Vuosiäänestyksen osallistujamäärä jäi jonkin verran aikaisemmasta. 205 äänestäjää antoi 1 221 ääntä. Mukana ei ollut tällä kertaa juuri ollenkaan satunnaisempia pelaajia, vaan lähes yksinomaan peliharrastajia.
Voittajapelistä ei ollut oikeastaan missään vaiheessa epäselvää. Eclipse uusi voittonsa viime vuodelta ja Dominion sai tyytyä kakkossijaan.
Vanhoja suosikkeja
Yleensä uutuuspelit eivät ole listalla juhlineet, mutta Terra Mystica nappasi odotetusti hyvän sijoituksen. Uutuuspelille kuudes sija on upea saavutus. Seuraava uutuuspeli nähtiin sijalla 14, josta löytyy Tzolk’in.
Viime vuoden uutuuksista Kingdom Builder vakiinnutti asemansa. Myös Mage Knight piti suosionsa.
Viime vuonna jäin myös arvuuttelemaan muiden Vuoden peli -voittajien menestystä. No, sitä ei nähty tänä vuonna: Paris Connection ja Blitz jäivät kumpikin täysin ilman ääniä. Ei siis ihan nappivalinnat. No, tämän vuoden Vuoden pelit tuskin pärjäävät sen paremmin.
7 Wonders näyttäisi tosiaan olevan kestosuosikki: peli nappasi nyt toistamiseen kolmannen sijan, eikä jäänyt Dominionista kuin seitsemän ääntä.
Mitä puuttui?
Jos verrataan vuosiäänestyksen tuloksia parhaiden pelien listaan, nähdään, mitä pelejä arvostetaan, mutta ei pelata. Kymmenen parhaan joukosta Brass ja Steam jäivät neljään ääneen, Age of Steam kolmeen, Antiquity ja Crokinole yhteen. Puerto Rico, Eclipse, Agricola, Through the Ages ja Power Grid sijoittuivat paremmin sijoituksena mukaisesti.
Carcassonne puolestaan on aliarvostettu: se sijoittui neljänneksi, mutta on parhaat pelit -listalla juuri nyt vasta 86. – pitäisiköhän pelin pelaajien käydä vähän nostamassa arvioitaan? Sama Menolipun kohdalla, 9. sija äänestyksessä ja sama 86. sija listalla. Voi toki olla, että ne, jotka näitä pelejä innokkaimmin pelaavat, eivät harrasta BGG-reittauksia ja siten vaikuta Lautapelioppaan parhaat pelit -listalla. 7 Wonders ja Race for the Galaxy sentään löytyvät parhaat pelit -listan 20 parhaan joukosta.
Jokainen parhaat pelit -listan 20 parhaasta pelistä sentään sai edes yhden äänen, eikä äänestyksessä ylipäätään hävinnyt nollakerhoon mitään yllättävää, lähinnä pelejä, joita pelaavat sellaiset äänestäjät, joita ei tänä vuonna äänestykseen osallistunut.
